Quality, trusted partnerships and an uncompromising approach to safety. was the formula for successful delivery of the $15 million ‘Endeavour Building’ development at North Lakes State College, North of Brisbane.

Hutchinson Builders (Hutchies) were chosen to construct the college’s impressive new classrooms and multi-media facility on the site of a retired parking lot, and AMA was part of the team of specialist contractors.

Hutchies has a strong reputation in the schools sector, and working with
trusted partners is critical to their ongoing success.

Tim Lyons, Project Manager at Hutchinson Builders, explained why AMA and Hutchies have a lasting professional relationship.

“AMA is a great company. They produce good, high-quality work and are very user- friendly from our side”,

The scope of works for AMA at North Lakes College was to supply and install, StructGlass, Perforated Screens, Batten Screens and Handrails in all areas of the new building.

Structglass was specified for the Endeavour Building balustrades, providing a resilient barrier that stays in place, should any part of the barrier be compromised or damaged, even though interlinking handrails are not required. Structglass has the added safety feature of being 20% higher than required building codes.

North Lakes State College is a multi-site complex that ranges from cottage style learning spaces for Preps, through to precincts and urban learning centres for high school students.

At the forefront of any development at the school is the objective of creating unique and practical learning environments for their students to thrive. The new Endeavour Building joins other state-of-the-art facilities on campus, including a performing arts complex and multi-purpose sports stadium.

As frequently happens in any large project, there was the need to adapt and be flexible at one stage, but overall, Tim said, things went smoothly.

‘There was a need for screen redesigns at one stage. However, AMA handled this well, so it wasn’t really even an issue.’

‘The client was also definitely happy with the quality of the work on the project. AMA are just really good.’

With teams around Australia, Hutchies always sources suppliers and products that are local to their projects whenever possible, making AMA a regular feature in many of Hutchies Brisbane and Sunshine Coast based projects.

‘I would definitely use AMA again,’ Tim said. ‘In fact we already do use them on multiple projects and will continue to do so. I would have no hesitation in recommending AMA to other industry contacts.’
