A message from Mo Bro Sam Bevis

This Movember I've committed my upper lip to help change the face of men's health. I'm growing my moustache for 30 days, and I need your support.

The state of men’s health is in crisis. Did you know that men experience worse longer-term health than women and die on average six years earlier?

The hard facts

  • Prostate cancer rates will double in the next 15 years.
  • Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50
  • Three quarters of suicides are men
  • Poor mental health leads to half a million men taking their own life every year. That’s one every minute

And why is this happening?

  • Lack of awareness and understanding of the health issues men face
  • Men not openly discussing their health and how they are feeling
  • Reluctance to take action when men don’t feel physical or mentally well
  • Stigmas surrounding mental health
  • Men are less likely than women to seek help for health concerns, and also less likely to use health care services

Movember are the only charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, year-round. They are addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. I am supporting the Movember Foundation because around the world, 510,000 men die from suicide each year. The Movember Foundation is funding research and services to help men and boys stay mentally healthy. There are two ways you can contribute to my Mo growing effort:
